La Raza Unida Party – Chapter Information (U.S.)
The Raza Unida Party (RUP) is a Chicano political organization founded in 1970 to advocate for the rights, representation, and empowerment of Mexican Americans and other Latino communities. While its strongest historical roots are in Texas, chapters and organizing efforts have extended to several states, continuing its mission of community-based political action, education, and civic engagement.
Texas is the birthplace and historical center of the Raza Unida Party. Established in Crystal City, the party quickly gained traction in South Texas communities, particularly in the Rio Grande Valley.
